2020 was one of the memorable years for actress Swasika Vijay. From winning the Kerala State film award to making her anchoring debut, this year was special for the actress. In an exclusive chat with ETimes-TV, the actress took a walk down her memory lane and shared her memories and hopes about 2021.

When quizzed about her best moment of the year, Swasika without a second thought said it's winning the State Award under the Best Supportive Actress category.

"It was totally unexpected. Especially after the COVID-19 crisis, I thought this movie might also fade away. The movie got 3 awards. Getting such a huge recognition after the ups and downs and struggles in the industry for the last 10 years, it is truly a blessing. Happy that I have got something valuable like this to cherish in this tough year," she shared.

Talking about the one thing 2020 has taught her, Swasika said that there are never-ending possibilities for people who really wish for something.

"We all have the habit of procrastination. We complain that we don't have time or are too lazy to go somewhere when we want to do something new. But, during the lockdown, people started finding innovative ideas to fulfil their urge to try something new. Classes going online, movies being shot online all these are proof that there are endless opportunities when you wish to do something new," the actress said.

Recalling her best moments of laughter in 2020, Swasika quipped, "It is surely the link-ups with a film actor. Every morning there will be new gossip about us and those made me laugh the most this year."

Besides her movie stint, Swasika has taken a new step in TV also. The actress made her anchoring debut with the show, '

Red Carpet

'.

"I was not so confident to take up anchoring, thinking that I am not good with talking. But, when the opportunity came, which was the first post lockdown, I thought why not give it a try. Also, the genre of the show attracted me. 'Red Carpet' is a platform to felicitate women who are role models to society. I take it as a responsibility to acknowledge them," Swasika told.

Swasika Vijay is hopeful that 2021 will be a better year for everyone, which is full of happiness and goodwill.

"Like everyone, I am also hopeful that the year will be exciting for everyone. Hopefully, the theatres will reopen soon and the entertainment industry will be back with a bang. Happy that I have an upcoming release and also currently I am doing a character in Mohanlal's new movie. Firstly, I pray that 2021 will keep us all safe from the deadly virus. I wish the new year brings many reasons for everyone to smile wide," she concluded.
