Popular actress Chitra, who was best known for her work in Malayalam and Tamil movies, passed away on Saturday (August 21). Condolences were pouring in on social media for the actress from various quarters.
Sharing a throwback picture of Chitra, Ayalathe Sundari fame Kavitha Nair also penned a heart-touching note for the departed soul.

"Nobody hailed you lady superstar or the finest heroine..
yet you did contribute to all the characters and made them unforgettable. There is a bunch of actors who should have given more credit than they eventually got. May your soul find peace ahead," she wrote.

Chitra ventured into movies as a child actress and has featured in more than 200 films. Her first film 'Apoorva Raagangal' (1975), had stars including Kamal Haasan, and Srividya. Chitra has worked with some of the leading actors in the South including Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Suresh Gopi. Apart from Malayalam, she has also acted in Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu movies.
On the other hand, Kavitha Nair became a household name playing the lead role of Kavyalakshmi in 'Ayalathe Sundari'. Later, she received the Kerala State Television Award for the best actress for her character Ancy in 'Thonyaksharangal'.
