The trailer of
Jeethu Joseph's crime thriller 'Valathu Vashathe Kallan' was out last day, and it is already creating a buzz. Well, when the cinephiles were marvelled by Biju Menon and Joju George's makeover, yet another face caught the attention of the '90s kids. Yes, it was Kuttichathan's Varsha! Actress Shraddha Gokul, who is still loved as the chirping Varsha in the evergreen serial 'Halo Kuttichathan', is set to make her big entry into Mollywood.
Without any delay, we got in touch with her, not to ask about the movie, but to hear some fond memories about the serial that made the childhood of every 90s kid memorable.
It was at the age of 10 that Shraddha was cast in the Baiju Devaraj serial. The Super Dancer finalist entered the serial along with her co-contestants Shane Nigam and Navneeth Madhav.
"When Baiju sir briefed my mother about her serial, her first reaction was, 'She can dance well, but I am not sure whether she can act!'. She was right, though. I didn't know anything about acting. I was too camera-shy, too. The shoot happened during our vacation, and every day was like a tour for us. We were all pampered so well that we would even end up picking fights every day," Shraddha recollected.
In the series, Shraddha played Varsha, whose character was often possessed by the evil spirit, Mayachathan.
"Even days back, one who met me said he used to hate me back then, since I was Maychathan. I just knew that I did whatever the makers had said. But the set was fun. Shane, Navneet, Abhay and Abhirami, we used to play, fight, and we had so much fun. I never knew how to ride a cycle, and Varsha had a cycle in every scene. I can't count the number of times I have fallen," she shared.
Shraddha shared that she feels fortunate that people still recognise her despite the serial going off air over two decades ago.
"Still, everyone calls me Varsha; they don't know my real name. People say I look the same even now. Being remembered even after two decades, I feel so lucky. Kuttichathan fans still consider us like their own family, and I feel so blessed," she added.
Soon after Kuttichathan, Shraddha was seen active in both movies and serials. Further, she took a break from the industry and moved to Philipines for her studies. Now, she is back to Mollywood as a doctor-actress and hints that some surprises are on the way, too.
"I missed being in this buzz when I was doing my studies. All I knew was I had to come back and do what I love the most, dance and acting. I don't believe in doing back-to-back characters and getting busy. I wish to do characters that would stay in the minds of the viewers, just like Varsha," she concluded.
