Ex-contestant Anoop Krishnan reviews Bigg Boss Malayalam 4: Tasks are better but contestants aren't playing it with a competitive spirit

Bigg Boss Malayalam 4 had completed 60 episodes. Ever since its launch, the show has been receiving mixed response from viewers. When the exceptional performance of some contestants gain laurels, the 'safe game' of some known faces has disappointed many. In an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, former contestant and actor Anoop Krishnan shared his review of the show. Take a look:

2/10

‘Known faces disappointed’

I was eagerly waiting for the show's premiere. From confirmation by Mohanlal to host the show to some of my friends' entries, the expectation was high. The Bigg Boss set literally made me jealous, God! Why didn't we get a chance to be there?

However, sadly, the known faces disappointed me with their safe games and groups. The people whom I know personally, the ones I expected to create some buzz are sitting idle in the house, totally disappointing! It is the lesser-known faces in the lot who make some content. Yes, they all are potential contestants, I wonder whether they have lost the track. I lost interest to watch the show in the meantime. Well, after the entry of wildcard contestants, there is a small hope.

3/10

Tasks are better but they aren't putting in any effort

This season, the tasks seem to be better. Tasks like 'BB resort' was similar to the ones I had, still, there were some new elements. But, the contestants aren't playing them well. I can't see any game spirit there. The amount of effort they are putting into the tasks is very less.

For example, in the 'Katta Waiting' task, it was clearly mentioned that one has to secure their blocks, which clearly meant that any inmate can snatch them, or steal them. None of the contestants did it. If you are inside the show, the least you can do is play the tasks well.

4/10

Not using the 24x7 LIVE streaming well

It is the biggest fortune of this season's contestants. They have a 24x7 LIVE streaming on OTT. Sadly, there is not much content to entertain the viewers. The contestants have a huge opportunity to create content and entertain everyone, no one is making use of it.

5/10

Disrespecting Lalettan

One thing I felt is that the contestants don't have any respect for host Mohanlal - be it standing up when he comes or talking politely to him. I understand it is not a rule, but that's the respect you give to such a legend.

6/10

About the language

One of the biggest criticism that the season has received is the contestants are not using Malayalam in the show. Well, I think that was a mistake from the makers. They shouldn't have chosen such contestants for the show then. Some of the contestants belong to a particular lifestyle and it is not their fault when they use English or some offensive words inside the house.

The only way to stop this is to give strict punishments. Enough of the warnings! Give them strong punishments or fines, then they will think before uttering a word.

7/10

About Robin and PR

Yes, Robin is one of the most talked-about contestants of the season. I haven't seen him playing any tasks exceptionally well. But, he has made some impact that everyone inside the house is talking about him. That was his brilliant strategy. I find it similar to the style of season 2 contestant Rajith Kumar. If he is staging a 'one-man show' there, the sad part is that there is no one strong enough to oppose him. If there was one contestant like season one winner Sabumon, there wouldn't have been any Robin Radhakrishnan there.

However, I am not against the allegation that he has a paid PR team out to support him. What is wrong with it? He is paying his own money to do a campaign and maybe that can make him go well in the game. Political parties do that. Also, people criticize that he came prepared for the show, why not? If you are planning to write UPAC exam, won't you prepare for it? Once you get selected for a show like this, there is no big shame than saying, “I didn't know anything about the game.”

8/10

Janaki and Daisy

Just like Lakshmi Jayan in our season, I think Janaki didn't deserve to get evicted in the initial week. She was a better player who could have stayed for a bit longer. Same with Daisy, she was a great player. She could have been in the game.

9/10

There is no good friendship or healthy competition

The house lacks good bondings. There were many celebrated bonds but none of them did any good to the game. During my season, I had a great bond with Manikuttan, but both of us knew we were each other's biggest competitors and we had a healthy competition. This season lacks that too.

10/10

My Top 5

According to me, Robin, Jasmine, Dhanya, and Akhil are good enough to make it to the Top 5. If they continue to play well, one among Blesslee and Lakshmi Priya is also a good competitor to enter the final round of the competition.
