Bigg Boss Malayalam 7: Host Mohanlal to miss next weekend episode? Here's why
According to sources close to the production, Mohanlal is set to travel to the USA for a major stage show. While this news may come as a disappointment to fans, there’s a silver lining—Mohanlal is still expected to interact with contestants virtually, just as he has done in previous seasons.
Interviewer Sarika KB has been evicted from Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7. Though her journey was short, she managed to create quite a buzz in the house. Here's a look back at her time on the show.
Soon after Sarika entered the house, an old video of her began circulating online. In it, she stated that she hated Bigg Boss, describing it as a show full of chaos. Her admission sparked discussions, especially given her decision to join the show.
One of the first major confrontations in the season was between Sarika and Aneesh. During a task where contestants had to name someone unfit for captaincy, Aneesh brought up a conversation in which Sarika allegedly admitted that her celebrity interview show Hot Seat was scripted.
“If that’s true, she was fooling the Malayali audience,” Aneesh said, adding that it made him question her authenticity and clarity in taking a stand.
In a mid-week twist, Sarika and fellow contestant Oneal Sabu were sent to the mysterious Dead Zone. After spending a few difficult days there, they returned to the main house during a weekend episode. Sarika later shared how tough it was to survive in the isolated space.
During the Oridathoridathu task, Sarika shared a deeply emotional account of her struggles. She revealed that she had once aspired to be a lawyer, but her orthodox family did not support her ambitions.
Fighting back tears, she spoke about losing her father while seven months pregnant, a loss that continues to leave a void in her life. Sarika also opened up about her abusive marriage. Though legally still married, she and her husband are now separated.
“I worked till my ninth month of pregnancy. Even my delivery was traumatic. My husband showed no care, but his neglect became my motivation,” she shared.
With grace, she added, “It is that failed marriage that made this successful Sarika.” Her heartfelt story moved fellow contestants, who came forward to console her — creating one of the most touching moments of the season.
In a light-hearted segment, Sarika took on her bold interviewer persona and conducted a mock post-show interview with Sariga. While most housemates laughed at the exaggerated questions, one remark — suggesting Sariga was “flirty” with male contestants — deeply upset her.
Sariga later confided in Akbar and Binny, expressing that such comments could affect her family’s perception, especially after her two-decade-long career. Taking the mature route, she calmly confronted Sarika and expressed her disappointment.
Though Sarika initially defended it as harmless fun, she soon realised the emotional weight of her words and offered a sincere apology. In a private moment, she even addressed Sariga’s husband through the camera, saying, “Sariga is a gem. Everything I said was in jest. As someone who hasn’t had a happy marriage, I know the value of a good partner — you’re lucky to have her.”
This isn’t the first time Mohanlal has taken a short break from physically appearing on the show. During Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5, he traveled to Japan for personal commitments but continued to host the show via video conferencing, engaging actively with contestants and even overseeing the eviction process remotely.
The weekend episodes of Bigg Boss Malayalam have always been a fan-favorite, largely due to Mohanlal’s commanding presence, insightful commentary, and his ability to hold contestants accountable in a calm yet firm manner. His absence from the stage, even temporarily, will undoubtedly be felt.
However, fans can take comfort in knowing that the superstar is not stepping away entirely and will continue to be part of the show from afar. With the game intensifying and contestants facing new challenges, viewers can still look forward to Mohanlal’s guidance—albeit through a screen—until he returns to the Bigg Boss stage in person.
