In an exclusive interview with TimesofIndia.com, the newbie opened up about his baby steps in television hosting, the challenges of being the only non-dancer in the pack of stunning dancers and much more.
The much 'tensed' entry
Arun Joseph is a known face on the internet; thanks to his viral videos. The RJ-turned-anchor still remembers the day when he got a call from an unknown number.
"I was shocked to know that I got an offer to host a show, I even suggested them to try someone else. But, later I decided to give it a shot," Arun recollects.
Arun shared that he felt like a complete outsider in the room at his first meeting with the team. Later, he managed to cope up and gel with them.
The radio jockey was naturally tensed about facing the camera for the first time. He narrated how his feet trembled before the first take.
"I was so tensed that I couldn't even spot the camera. Thankfully, my first take was fine. But the real challenge was the intro skit. The five-minute skit went on for nearly 45 minutes because of the ragging from the team. Thanks to that 45 minutes, it got me close to the team," the anchor narrates.
The non-dancer in the house
Arun shared that he was the only who doesn't know dance in the entire team. But the anchor revealed that it helped him create comedy in the show.
"Everybody knew that I had very little knowledge in dance. It only helped me to try creating some humour with it. It also helped me get closer to the mentors, judges and even the contestants," he states.
Talking about the dance show, Arun mentioned that the show has even helped him get rid of the inhibitions he had towards reality shows.
"I always believed that reality shows are often scripted and the tears we see on the screen are usually fake. But standing on this side of the screen, I realized that they are all true. When someone with whom you some significant time, share food and long conversations leaves the show suddenly, it will be hard to hold back tears," Arun shares.

"Shilpa has not just made me comfortable but indeed taught me how I should treat a newcomer. It requires a personality of next level to give space to a newbie when you can grab the space and attention yourselves," he gushes.
Talking about the contestants from various walks of life, the anchor stated that he got marvelled with their dedication irrespective of the struggles in life. He also saluted the celebrity mentors who took time to help the contestants perform well at every stage.

Arun is overwhelmed with the response he is getting from the fans. The anchor went emotional talking about the video he has received from an elderly lady watching the show.
"I am showered with loads of love. The attention I got from social media is incomparable. Housewives and even elderly people watch the show and tell me that they love me. I can’t ask for more. A random guy sent me a video of his grandmother watching the show and enjoying my jokes. This made my day," signs off Arun on a happy note.
