Skanda Ashok is back from a self-imposed hiatus from television after two years and credits this return entirely to the innovative narrative of his upcoming project - one that focuses on the complexities of a live-in relationship; and also at the same time sees him take on the challenge of shooting with a dog as one of the co-stars.

“My last outing on TV was Sarasu, after which I decided to take a break from the small screen and concentrate on films. This one revolves around a boy and a girl who meet through a labrador, fall in love, and then go on to live together. The dog is a constant companion through all the ups and downs of life,” he tells us.
Titled Avanu Matthu Shravani, the soap is being directed by Mysore Manju.
“I like being associated with stories that have a relevant message. While portraying a live-in couple, the team has been sensitive in handling it and not advocating that everyone in love must go ahead and enter into a live-in relationship. We are merely showcasing what’s happening in society today,” he says.

‘We shoot around Cheeko’s schedule’
I am a fan of 777 Charlie and loved the antics of the lab in the film. Our serial also has a lab who plays the ‘child’ that my girlfriend and I have. Cheeku is his screen name and we’ve taken great care to ensure he is most comfortable on set. Sometimes if it’s sunny, he feels like resting and when we don’t get what we want, I have to do multiple takes. It’s a challenge to work with an animal, but it’s also refreshing.
