Veena Ponappa on playing a vamp on TV: There is room to showcase your acting chops

She is one of the most versatile actresses in the Kannada entertainment industry. Actress Veena Ponappa, who has been in the industry for a long time now, shot to fame for essaying the role of vamps on Kannada TV. The actress literally made the viewers hate her on-screen character with her charismatic acting skills.


However, she avers that she enjoys playing vamp on-screen. Speaking about the same with ETimes TV, Veena revealed, "I have always played positive roles in all the movies I have acted in so far. But, when it comes to small screen projects, I have always been that vamp of the show."


She added, " There is always room to showcase your acting chops when you essay the role of a vamp. There is scope for acting and that's what I like about it. And somehow, looking at my features, the makers get fixed in their mind that I am better off playing the vamp than any other character."

On playing various on-screen characters on TV

"Well, to be honest, I look completely different in every on-screen character I portray. Not everyone can actually recognise me for my work. I look different in every new character I portray. There are times when people get shocked to know that I am the artist who essayed a particular character from a show or movie. But, nevertheless, I have earned good reviews for all the characters I have acted on so far. Every character I have acted so far is different from another. So, I can say with immense pride that I look very different in every on-screen character I perform," shared Veena.



Currently, the actress is portraying the role of a queen in the devotional show Udho Udho Shri Renuka Yellamma.


"The moment I was approached for a devotional show, it interested me a lot. I have previously worked for various mythology shows and I enjoy working for them. I felt this was a perfect comeback on Kannada TV for me. I gave my look test and it went on really very well. Things fell into its place and here I am today essaying the role of Queen Mangaladevi in Udho Udho Shri Renuka Yellamma." she signed off.
