Shashank Purushotham gets more air time

TV actor Shashank Purushotham, who plays an underworld don in Kannada television director TN Seetharam’s political satire Mahaparva on ETV, has apparently got himself more screen time than before. The serial, a political satire that highlights current politics, sees Shashank play the lead villain Vishnumurthy Chintadri. “I play an educated and sophisticated underworld don.
In fact, the actor also speaks in English at times on the show. He is even seen quoting from works of literature to establish a point if he has to,” explains Shashank, who is a popular face in Bangalore’s theatre circuit. The actor, who has been an integral part of Bangalore theatre, got a bearing on the TV screen after Surendranath of Rangashankar suggested he take up this role. Of late, from appearing on screen just around twice or thrice a week, Shashank’s portions have been increased drastically, thanks to the apparent rise in TRPs every time the character appears on screen. “I think the channel’s management can comment on that, but yes, I am shooting a lot more than before,” is all that Shashank will say on the matter.
