It was a nostalgic moment for television actress and host
Shalini Sathyanarayan
when she visited
Gangamma Hombe Gowda Girls’ High School
at
Wilson Garden
. Shalini, who was invited as a chief guest for a
school
event, visited her 10th standard class room and even met her teachers.
Reminiscing about her school days, Shalini says, “I passed the 10th standard in the year 1993 from this school. I used to sit on the last bench. I was not very studious, but I took part in extra-circular activities — be it shot put, javelin throw, debate or poetry recitation competitions. I always used to get the first or second prize. Sometimes, I remember crying when I failed to get prizes, but my teachers taught me how to overcome failure and that has made me a stronger person today.”
Even when Shalini fell ill in the eighth standard, her teachers helped her get back on track in academics, she shares. “Teachers like Ramaiah and Anitha Das were my pillars of support when I had typhoid. There was a teacher named Ganesh Bhat Hobli, who always wanted me to excel in academics, but I fell short of his expectations. I am glad that I have an opportunity to meet most of my teachers after many years. Those days, schools were ill-equipped, but the teachers were the treasure trove of knowledge,” she wraps up.
