Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A legend – chapter 1 gets TV premiere; Here's where and when to watch

Kannada television audiences are in for a grand cinematic treat with the World Television Premiere of the much-anticipated historical action drama Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1. The film will air exclusively on Zee Kannada on January 24 at 7 PM, promising viewers a grand cinematic experience rooted in culture, faith and folklore.

A prequel to the blockbuster Kantara, Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 is set in 4th Century CE India and traces the origin of the mystical forest land known as Kantara. The film delves deep into ancient traditions, spiritual beliefs and legends that shaped the land, presenting a powerful narrative woven with mythology, history and intense drama. With its expansive scale and culturally rich storytelling, the film has already carved a significant place for itself in Indian cinema.




The film features a strong ensemble cast led by Rishab Shetty, who delivers a compelling dual performance as Berme and Mayakara. Rukmini Vasanth plays Princess Kanakavathi, while Jayaram appears as King Rajashekara, father to Kulashekara and Kanakavathi. Gulshan Devaiah essays the role of King Kulashekara, and Pramod Shetty is seen as Bhogendra, adding depth and intensity to the narrative.

At the heart of the story is Berme, a fearless warrior and ancestor of Shiva, who rises against the oppressive Kadamba kingdom to protect his people and their sacred forest land. As dark forces threaten Kantara, Berme invokes the ancient deities Panjurli and Guliga, laying the foundation for the revered Bhoota Kola tradition. The film unfolds as a gripping saga of faith, sacrifice, inner conflict and the clash between divine power and royal ambition.

Rishab Shetty’s commanding performance stands out as one of the film’s highlights. His portrayal of Berme is marked by raw emotion, physical intensity and spiritual depth. The film’s first half establishes a strong mythological and emotional base, while the second half escalates into visually stunning action sequences and divine confrontations that leave a lasting impact.
