Prerana Kambam shares her thoughts about suicide
In the wake of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, television actor Prerana Kambam, who made her debut with the serial Ranganayaki, which went off air recently, has posted the reasons which might lead to people committing suicide.
Her Instagram post reads, “Suicide: the act of intentionally cause ones own death. Factors leading to it may be psychological disorders, substance abuse, relationship problems, financial crisis, inhumane acts like bullying and torture and soon.
There are even scientific approaches to it where serotonin and neurotrophic factors are said to be low in those who attempt/succeed in taking their life. What does all of this mean! Do you blame an external factor or do you blame your own body for not supporting you? Personally I don’t feel that this is a solution to anything! Sure, we don’t know their demons, we don’t know the pain that they’re going through..But cutting yourself off from the world? Really? Is that the only reasonable solution to not feel pain and anguish anymore? If anything it’s a selfish act where the person is relieving themselves and in exchange destroying everything and everyone they love. Is it cowardly? Is it courageous? Are they weak or are they the strongest people out there? Well that’s an ongoing debate but personally I’d say they are weak. They are people who lack strength to face life.
Problems are subjective…but ending life? There’s NOTHING that justifies such an act. Problems aren’t a place of no return! People have faced depression, they have their share of problems but they have come out of it. There have been talks for decades now about how you should open up and let loved ones help you in times of distress. Few make not feel safe to open up due to the fear of not being understood or fear of being made fun of but that's not the case. Just try and you'll see that the world cares. Worst case scenario there are professionals to uplift you. Take advantage of their experience and listen to them- take the steps advised...take the medication given. It'll take time, but you're going to be fine. This is only temporary.
On another note just think of all the people who've been stripped off their right to live due to natural and unnatural circumstances. Circumstances where they didn't get a say whether to live or die. They would be grateful to have a chance at life. The concept of suicide is almost like a joke slapped onto those who've passed away that way and their families. So how is it right that you throw away that very thing? People! You never know how many lives you've touched and inspired. You might have been their role model! Now such acts...what message does it send to them? You might have given them dreams and hopes to go through life. Don't shatter that very hope! Don't make them go through this pain. In the end...there's no judgement, there's no fact. There's only emptiness and sadness. Only one sincere request. Suicide- please don't. Please don't. If not for yourself, believe in those who love you. They'll give you all the strength you need. I love you. We love you. The world loves you. Stay strong. It'll all be okay. (Sic)”
