Localising the flavour

North Karnataka dialect has been used in Mahasati serial
The process of localising the geography in

Kannada

television serials continue. Specific serials with particular dialects are beginning to earn the audience's interest. One new serial, Mahasati, follows the audience and is set in north Karnataka.

The serial also casts actors mostly from north Karnataka to get the diction and subtleties correct.

The shooting too will be held on location in various places in the north of the state. Mahasati is directed by veteran television star Sunil Puranik. He says that the film is set in north Karnataka and the plot revolves around two families.

For a change, the basic plot is based on a real incident. Sunil Puranik has teamed up with SM

Patil

to write the script while

Abhiruchi Chandru

has written the dialogues. There is some Sandalwood flavour to the serial with director Yograj Bhat penning the lyrics for the title song and Raghu Dixit scoring and singing it. Actress Shruti too will be seen in the role of the narrator of the story. Puranik says that the film is based on an incident that happened in

Bailahongala

around 20 years ago.

He is from

Dharwad

and was always keen on making a serial set in north Karnataka. The story is about a woman who loses her husband on the day of marriage. Her childhood friend enters her life but they have to overcome prejudices in the form of customs, society, case and relationships. Vinay from

Hubballi

and Aishwarya from

Kalaburagi

are playing the lead roles in the serial.

Malati Sirdeshpande

who is also acting in the serial said that though being from the north, this is her first opportunity to talk in her own dialect in a serial
