As the festival of lights, Deepavali, approaches, actress
Geetha Bharathi Bhat offers a glimpse into her heartfelt celebrations, steeped in Konkani traditions. Known for her commitment to cultural practices and environmental consciousness,
Geetha shares her
Deepavali rituals in an exclusive interview.
"Deepavali is all about celebrations for me. From lighting diyas to performing rituals, that's how we celebrate the festival at home.
I am personally against bursting crackers, so it has always been a noiseless Deepavali with loads of other celebrations," shared Geetha, emphasizing her preference for a serene and eco-friendly observance of the festival.
Delving into her Konkani roots, Geetha sheds light on a cherished culinary tradition that adds a sweet touch to their celebrations. "Since I hail from a Konkani background, we prepare a special dish called 'Surnali.' It's more like a sweet Dosa. We literally wait for the festival to have it," she revealed, underscoring the anticipation and joy associated with these cultural culinary delights.
Apart from the gastronomic delights, Geetha elaborates on the spiritual dimension of their Deepavali festivities. "Apart from that, there will be Lakshmi Puja in the evening. On the whole, it's a complete festive celebration at home," she shares, emphasizing the integral role of traditional rituals in their family celebration.
