Kavya Gowda shares CCTV footage of alleged assault in family dispute; breaks silence, says "I am here to stand in my truth"
Kannada television actor Kavya Gowda, who was recently embroiled in a serious family dispute involving allegations of assault and criminal intimidation, has now broken her silence by sharing CCTV footage from the night of the alleged incident. The actor took to Instagram to post multiple videos from January 26, claiming they show what actually transpired at her residence.
In one of the CCTV clips, Kavya is seen standing outside her house with her toddler daughter and their nanny, seemingly waiting for someone. Moments later, her co-sister Prema is seen approaching the actor and behaving aggressively. Another video shows the situation escalating further, with the woman allegedly attempting to hit Kavya with a stick, while the actor is seen trying to dodge the blows. A third clip shows a heated confrontation inside the house, with multiple people present, where Kavya, her husband and members of her maternal family are allegedly pushed around during the altercation.
Sharing the videos on her Instagram stories, Kavya wrote a long note stating that she was not trying to justify herself but was “standing in her truth.” She wrote, “I am not here to justify myself. I am here to stand in my truth. I have always believed in God, and when everything felt dark, He showed me the way… Words carry power and with that power comes responsibility.”
She further added that she never sought media attention and chose silence even as allegations were made against her and her husband. “While the world was forming opinions, I alone witnessed my husband’s pain and felt the silent tears of my daughter. That pain cannot be explained, it can only be lived. But I did not break,” she wrote.
Referring to the legal proceedings, Kavya said her faith in truth and the judicial system never wavered. “False allegations were thrown at me and my husband. My name was dragged into unnecessary controversies under the mask of a property dispute… Truth may be delayed. It may be tested. It may be questioned. But truth never bows down. Truth never loses. And today, the truth stands with me. This is not just a statement; it is proof of my innocence,” she asserted.
The actor also stated that she chose restraint despite alleged provocation. “Even when we were provoked. Even when hands were raised. I chose patience because my honour, my family, and my child’s well-being meant more than reacting in anger. Silence is not weakness. Patience is not defeat. Faith is not foolishness,” she wrote, signing off with “Satyameva Jayate. Om Sai Ram. Om Namah Shivaya.”
Following complaints from both sides, the police had initiated an inquiry and recorded statements from the involved parties. The incident sparked widespread discussion on social media and in entertainment circles, with conflicting narratives emerging about who was at fault.
Nearly a month after the incident, Kavya has now chosen to make the CCTV footage public, stating that it reflects the reality of what happened that night and supports her claim that she and her family were at the receiving end of the violence. The investigation into the matter is reportedly ongoing, and authorities are expected to examine the CCTV visuals as part of the probe.
