"I have cried, laughed, and enjoyed every moment of my ups and downs," says 'Gicchi Gili Gili' host Reena D'souza

IPL host Reena D'souza seems to be enjoying her stint hosting a new reality show 'Gicchi Gili Gili'. Although this is her debut in the entertainment industry, the latter won the hearts of the viewers during the premiere episode of the reality show with her strong Kannada vocabulary and turned out to be everyone's favorite. In an exclusive LIVE interview with Etimes, Reena opened up about her new venture in the entertainment industry and spoke more about her career. Read on...

Entertainment debut

The entertainment industry is so much fun. I am so used to hosting discussions regarding sports. The complete change from sports to entertainment is actually fun. Really grateful to the 'Gicchi Gili Gili' team for having me on board for this project. Also, I am grateful to the viewers for accepting me as a host of a reality show as well. It's really a bliss feeling.

Journey to fame

Starting from working with a local channel and slowly expanding my horizon to better opportunities, I must say it was quite a challenging journey. I have loved every bit of my ups and down on a positive note. I have cried, laughed, and enjoyed every moment of my ups and downs. I have also been very keen on considering all the feedback I used to get from everyone as well. So chalked out a few feedback and worked on it. This actually helped me a lot.

Reena D'souza - IPL host

I feel privileged to have got a chance to interview and hold discussions with many stalwarts in the field of cricket. Their knowledge about the sport is really worth sharing. There goes a lot of observations before holding a discussion about the match. It is quite a research work. The facts have to be apt. You cannot afford to give any random information. You need to keep your facts right. Mannerism also matters here. It is entirely a different process when compared to hosting an entertainment show.

The lockdown phase

I would actually say that the lockdown played an important role in helping me consider my strengths and weaknesses. 2020 was a major turning point in my career. I realised my Kannada vocabulary is my strength and worked on it to improve more. Also, Social media too played an important role in my career. I did get a lot of recognition and my talent on social media at that time itself. My followers on Instagram too increased at that point in time.

6/9

The transition

Oh! Life has been great post this transition period. I realised, consistency is the key and continued to follow my path. I am pretty happy and confident about it. There have been a lot of things lined up career-wise. I am open to many mediums now and looking forward to more opportunities.

7/9

Being a social media content creator

Creating content on social media is definitely not an easy job. There goes a lot of brainstorming, retakes, and much more while making a content video. I have been experiencing this for the past two years now and must say, it is indeed challenging work. Seriously, a big salute to all the content creators who have been constantly entertaining us with interesting videos online for a long time now.

8/9

Blessed feeling

I am indeed a proud Kannadati. The love I get from the viewers is immense. They have been very kind to me. Fortunately, I have not been trolled for any reason at any point in my career so far. Instead, I get direct messages even if I commit a small mistake while hosting. I really feel blessed for this reason.

9/9

Fans and followers

I respond to them and oblige also. Half an hour in my daily routine is for interaction with fans on social media. My viewers and fan followers are indeed in strength. I really look forward to their support in every step I do in my career in the future. I will never disappoint anyone and live up to their expectations.
