Kannada actors who pushed their envelopes for their on-screen characters

Looking fit and fab on-screen might be every actor's dream. But when it comes to meeting the needs of their particular on-screen character, these actors are ready to sacrifice anything and are taking up the challenge. Here is a list of few actors who went beyond their limits to make sure they put up a convincing performance.

2/7

Karthik Jayaram

Fondly known as JK, the actor is currently making noises for his mythology character 'Ravana' in the dubbed show 'Seetheya Rama'. However, the fact that there was a lot of hard work that made Ravana look every bit convincing on-screen, is worth a mention. In an interview with Etimes TV, the Seetheya Rama actor revealed, " I had to put on a lot of body mass for this particular character. It was quite a challenge. Ravana was not only a man with an ego but also a scholar and one of the biggest diety of 'Lord Shiva'. He would also play the Veena and dance Tandav. So, all of these were quite a challenge and I prepped myself in prior to get the best output."

3/7

Vinay Gowda

Talking about the challenges he came across while essaying the mythology character, Vinay Gowda in a candid chat with ETimes TV narrated how he prepped himself to become Lord Shiva. "I was very clear about giving my best shot to the show. The makers asked me to cut down on my body weight. So, I lost 8 kilos in just ten days. The makers were very particular about the character and also encouraged me. They gave me enough time to cut down on my body weight. Apart from that, I didn't touch non-vegetarian food during the shoot as I was playing the role of Lord Shiva."

Aryan Raj

Having bagged the titular role in the devotional show Úghe Ughe Mahadeshwara', Aryan had to undergo a massive transformation as Lord Male Mahadeshwara. Speaking to us, the actor shared, "Being an actor, appearances do matter a lot. However, for this particular role, we did experiment with a bald wig. But it failed. I personally was not comfortable wearing the wig. It was somehow difficult for me to get into character too. So, I decided to shave my hair off. I went completely bald to get the feel of the character. I also sported a clean-shaven look for a year."

5/7

Namratha Gowda

Namratha spoke to ETimes TV about the challenges she faced while stepping into the shoes of 'Naagini'. "One thing that is challenging for me is the language because I play a dual character. I have to speak pure Kannada as the script demands it. It will have a bit of 'halegannada' as well in the script. In fact, during my screen test, my dialogues had a lot of halegannada essence. So, I needed to do a lot of homework there," shared the Naagini 2 actress.

6/7

Pruthvi Ambaar

Talking about his guest appearance in 'Jothe Jotheyalli', Pruthvi in a conversation with ETimes TV mentioned "My character Neel in the show is a very tidy person in the show. I was asked to sport a formal look and the worst part was my hairstyle. My hair is messy most of the time and I like to leave it just like that. I used to spend more than one hour setting my hair right.”

7/7

Ashwini

Gattimela actress Ashwini, who is all set to make her debut in Telugu television recently lost seven kilos of her body weight during the lockdown period to portray the lead role in the upcoming supernatural thriller 'Nagabhairavi'.
