The serial narrates the story of Lord Krishna starting from his birth, childhood days, teenage years to becoming prince of Mathura. The story takes place in different cities like Gokul, Mathura, Hasitnapura and Dwaraka. The soap opera throws light on how, as a teenager, he shared a divine relationship with Radha. His dance with the Gopis of Vrindavana became known as the Rasa lila. Later, when he became a fully grown man, the series narrates about how he kills his evil uncle Kamsa. Krishna was the cousin of panadavas and the best friend of Arjuna. He even comes to the rescue of Draupadi when she was insulted by Kaurvasa. Krishna who is considered as a close friend to Arjuna even gives some useful tips before Kurukshetra.

The mythological serials which are on air on Kannada television are Mahabaratha and Radha Krishna. Devaki Nandana was also dubbed in Tamil. The original series was aired for over a year.
