Darshak Gowda shares his take on Kannada and Tamil industry
Actor Darshak Gowda made his small screen debut with the serial Kanmani. He extended his horizons beyond Kannada television by debuting on Tamil small screen with the horror serial Arundathi. The actor shares about differences he has noticed between Tamil and Kannada television industry with #QuickTakeshWithBangaloreTimesLanguage BarrierI didn't know Tamil, but I still accepted the offer because the director had confidence in me. When I couldn't get the language right I was helped with the crew prompting me on the sets. This was tough initially as I used to find it hard to concentrate on acting as I would have my mind on the prompter. It took me a while, but I soon got used to this process in around 10 days.AssistantsOn Tamil television sets, the production houses give assistants for lead actors and even some supporting actors. I felt embarrassed when they did things like serving food, which are things that could have been done easily by us. Working with stalwartsIn Padmavathi, I got the chance to work with MN Lakshmidevi which was an honour. She used to give tips to rectify mistakes on the set. The way she gets into the character is just impeccable. In Arundathi, I got worked with another legendary actor - Kovai Sarala, from whom I got to learn plenty. RemunerationThere is a common notion that people get paid well in Tamil industry. In Kannada also actors gets paid very well. It all depends on production houses. ContentWhether it is Kannada or Tamil, human emotions are same everywhere so I am glad that I am able work in Kannada and Tamil which has different languagues and nativity.
