Being brown is sexy: Bhoomi Shetty

Being brown is sexy: Bhoomi Shetty
Having spent the past two years living the character of the protagonist Mani in the serial Kinnari, the past week hasn’t exactly been easy for television actress Bhoomi Shetty. Kinnari officially wrapped up being on air on August 24 after nearly three years of entertaining audiences.
“It was my first serial and, like all firsts, Kinnari is extremely close to my heart.
From a small-town girl from Kundapur, I came here to be somebody and this serial gave flight to my dreams,” shares Bhoomi. Not being on the sets isn’t easy she says, given how hectic her life was for the past two years. But Bhoomi hasn’t been idle. The actor has been penning stories, which isn’t surprising, considering how she actively uploads her poems on social media.
“Most stories, even though they are said to be centred around women, show the woman as meek and one who is always the target of ridicule or being berated by others. In my story, I want to change that. My plot features a leading lady who is a businesswoman and the leading man is a farmer. She stands up for herself and will not tolerate any kind of nonsense from anyone. My women characters are strong and self-made,” states Bhoomi. She hopes to give life to this story in the same channel that aired Kinnari.
“I also have offers for acting, but I will first ensure that the role is something that celebrates my skin tone. I am dusky and my social media handle is a testimony to this. I have negativity coming in for my colour too, but that doesn’t stop me from celebrating who I am. Being brown is sexy, and I’m looking forward to this exciting new phase of my career,” wraps up Bhoomi.
