Ace actress Asha Rani to replace Chandrakala Mohan as 'Shanthamma' in devotional show 'Dasa Purandara'

Actress Asha Rani, who was last seen in the daily soap 'Kasturinivasa' on Kannada television, is gearing up to make her comeback on the small screen again.

Asha has been roped in to essay the character of Shanthamma in the daily soap Dasa Purandara. She has joined the cast of Dasa Purandara and will be seen as Shanthamma in the upcoming episodes of the daily soap. The actress has also been shooting for the same.

Meanwhile, Chandrakala Mohan called it quits from the devotional show owing to other commitments. She is currently busy with her other shows 'Super Queen' and 'Punyavathi'. While she is a participant in the reality show 'Super Queen', Chandrakala also portrays a very prominent role in the newly launched Kannada daily soap 'Punyavathi'. The actress seems to be enjoying her stint in the other shows.

On the other hand, Dasa Purandara marked the 50th television project for Chandrakala Mohan. Speaking about it in an earlier interview, the actress said, "Dasa Purandara is a big milestone in my career as it is the 50th project in my career. I consider myself lucky enough to bag a project even amidst this pandemic. It is also difficult to be a part of big projects lately. But, I am fortunate to be a part of many superhit serials in my career. Of course, it was never a cakewalk. I have had my own ups and downs in my entire acting career. Luckily, I have always worked with amazing teams. Whatever I am today, I completely owe it to my directors and the viewers. Without their support, I would not have made it so far."

Dasa Purandara is based on the life story of a saint-poet and the pioneer of Carnatic music, Purandara Dasa from medieval times. It will also showcase the richness of the Vijayanagara kingdom, which is now in the eastern part of central Karnataka.
