, he is all ready to showcase his second serial. This time it is a detective serial called Pattedari Pratibha. In a brief chat with Mirror, he reveals what audience can look forward to in it.

Have you decided to continue as a TV serial director?

I do not find any difference between TV and films. If you look at Girija Kalyana or Pattedari Pratibha, I have made it look like a film only. I never wanted to make serials that go on for ages or just show everything in close ups. I would never have directed a serial if it was of that kind. I was confident of showcasing the serial in a different manner and that is the reason I agreed to it. Pattedari Prathibha will not look like a regular serial. You will see the kind of making seen in films.

What is special about this serial?

Girija Kalyana was socio-mytho serial. It had a huge canvas and requires a person with huge experience. I took it as a challenge. Since I had background in theatre and because of my father's influence, I was confident of doing justice to it. When Girija Kalyana stopped, I was offered Pattedar Prathibha. I found it interesting because it was not just a detective serial. The protagonist is a home maker who has a flair for such things and slowly she transforms into a accomplished detective. It is her hidden talent. One track of the film is the detective part. The second is a family drama. She lives in a big family and has to take care of everyone. Not everyone in the family is happy with her detective work. She faces not only the challenge of the crime on hand but there is also conflict at home and in her heart.

Will Kannada serials measure up to international standards?

Kannada films are no longer under budget constraints like before. You can see most serials have top technical quality. Even the audience expect quality and cannot be fooled by repetition. Of course, our budgets cannot be compared to

Hollywood

and Bollywood. But we can still use the budget we have with creativity. We may not meet the grandeur of a Hollywood or a

Bollywood

serial, but our creativity levels are on par.
