’ will now play the lead in ‘

Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye

’ along with actors

Gracy Goswami

and

Shagun Pandey

. It is a period drama set in the 1940s which focusses on a love story during the partition. The actors have been shooting for it in Amristar and Mumbai.
But getting this role wasn’t easy for him because of the protests he had been a part of for non-payment of dues by the makers of ‘Hamari Bahu Silk’. He shares, “I auditioned at so many places but kept getting rejected, and it was not because of my skills but because of my honesty. I got to know from my sources and friends at these production houses that people feared that if they didn’t pay on time then I would protest. But would I do something like that if it wasn't a genuine cause? I fought for my whole unit and I think it because of their prayers today that I have got this role”

Zaan Khan's look in the new show
And now the actor wants to focus fully on his new role putting aside everything else in his life. “After going through turmoil for more than a year due to the pandemic and other reasons, life finally feels stable. And I will do everything I can to ensure that I perform efficiently. In this new show my character has to speak Urdu words, and being from Bhopal and from a family where people communicate in Urdu helped me,” he says.
