Dronacharya
Surendra Pal, who essayed the role of Dronacharya in BR Chopra's Mahabharat (1989), believes that the Mahabharat has been an inspiration for many of us and has been a sort of rule book. "For example, Arjun is an idol for many, hence the show and the epic saga of Mahabharat itself holds true to our times. It teaches you what a human being should be like, what his/her duties and responsibilities are. We all look up to Mahabharat and its characters for our lessons and that what makes the show relevant even today," says , adding, "While Mahabharata was written thousands of year ago, I don't see circumstances and people change. You'll come across people like Duryodhan, Mama Shakuni, etc in your day-to-day life, even today. It is just that the times are different and the clothes these characters wear are modern, but Mahabharata is present everywhere - politics, business, society etc. which is why the magic of the show will on despite it not being technologically advanced."
