Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress Nidhi Uttam reveals why she has been missing from TV

Nidhi Uttam, who became a household name as Nandini Singhania in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (YRKKH), returned to TV with Doosri Maa. Prior to that, she was seen as a young mother in Aghori, which wrapped up in September 2019. She says, “I was active on TV till 2019, following which, I was finalised for a couple of movies and a web series. I am back now and intend to balance all mediums.”
Nidhi says she has no qualms about playing a mom on screen, as long as the character is pivotal.She shares, “I played a mother in YRKKH and my last show as well. In Doosri Maa, I played Mala, a single mother, who passes away at a young age. I have no apprehensions about playing a sister, wife, or mother, as long as my character is strong. However, I won’t be comfortable with the idea of playing mother to actors my age. I am not keen on doing this at this stage in my career.”
What about becoming one in real life? Nidhi, who tied the knot with childhood sweetheart Mohit Pathak, a music composer and singer by profession, in November 2016, replies, “Mohit and I wish to embrace parenthood for sure. We love children and will have our own in the future. I want to be a mother and haven’t put it on the back burner. But it will happen when the time is right and when God decides to bless us. It will be the most beautiful thing ever.”
