Win or lose doesn’t matter to me, I either win or learn, says Sangram Singh
Sangram Singh scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win an MMA fight on Argentine soil, defeating France’s Florian Coudier—16 years his junior—in just 1 minute 45 seconds at Buenos Aires’ Tigre Sports Club. The win also marked his third consecutive MMA victory, following bouts in Georgia and the Netherlands.
Reflecting on the achievement, Sangram said, “Win or lose doesn’t matter to me. I either win or learn. I often say that passion has no age… My dream of becoming the first Indian came true when I won the fight in Argentina.” He credited his wrestling background for the win, adding that it played a key role in countering his opponent inside the ring.
Sharing the challenges behind the victory, he revealed, “Things were quite difficult this time… I was 600 grams overweight two days before the fight. I worked hard all day, sweating it out and managing my diet strictly.”
Speaking about the overwhelming support, he said, “I also had no idea why the entire stadium was cheering me on during my fight.” Sangram also highlighted the role of discipline and wellness in his journey, saying yoga and pranayama helped him stay focused and strong. Urging the youth to stay dedicated, he emphasised the importance of consistent hard work and mental strength.
Sangram has appeared in a number of television shows, such as Survivor India, Sach Ka Saamna and was the finalist of season seven of Bigg Boss in 2013. He also played as a coach in the movie Uvaa.
