Wagle Ki Duniya to Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya; TV shows that made a comeback on TV with a second season

Remakes have become a thing nowadays. It is not just Bollywood that is up with the remakes trend but the telly world is also getting on the bandwagon, introducing remakes of some of the most popular and loved shows from the past. From Kasautii Zindagii Kay to Saath Nibhana Saathiya, quite a few shows have made a comeback with their second seasons. And now the talks are on for one of the most popular shows of the 90s and early 2000s, Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s return to TV. Here’s a list of shows that either has made a comeback or might make one soon…

Wagle Ki Duniya

A sitcom of the late 80s starring Anjjan Srivastava and Bharati Achrekar with a special appearance of Shahrukh Khan is back on TV with its second season called ‘Wagle Ki Duniya - Nayi Peedhi, Naye Kisse’. Revolving around the life of a common man who wants to change his lifestyle but is afraid of taking Risks, the second season of the show starts Sumeet Raghvan and Pariva Pranati in the lead roles and the previous leads Anjjan and Bharati reprise their roles.

Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya

Pooja Gor, Arhaan Behl and Anupam Shyam starrer Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya is all set to make its comeback on March 15. The show revolving around the life of Pratigya aka Pooja fighting against the stereotypical mindset will be back with the same leads this month. The cast has already begun shooting for the episodes in Prayagraj.

Sasural Simar Ka

The popular Dipika Kakkar and Avika Gor starrer Sasural Simar Ka is also set to return with a second season. The show which ran for almost 7 years will come back with a new storyline as well as characters with no resemblance to the original season. Moreover, some recent reports suggest that Avinash Mukherjee and Akash Jagga will be playing the leads this season.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

Ekta Kapoor’s show starring the current Union Cabinet Minister and then actress Smriti Irani in the lead role ‘Tulsi’ is in talks about its return with a second season. Though not much has been revealed about season 2, it is known that the talks about its comeback are on. Kyunki.. ran for a very successful 8 long years and was one of the most-loved shows on TV during its run.

Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi

Rumours have it that Shaheer Sheikh, Erica Fernandes and Supriya Pilgaonkar starrer show Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi. The show and its lead actors were recently in talks as it completed 5 iconic years since its debut on TV. Marking the 5 years, Supriya dedicated a post on her social media to her fans. Meanwhile, the rumours sparked up even more after Shaheer posted a picture disclosing that he is going for an audition after a long time.

Kasautii Zindagii Kay

Ekta Kapoor’s popular Kasautii Zindagii Kay made a return with its second season in 2018. But unlike the first season this time, it didn’t have a long run and went off-air in 2020. Starring Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan the show had a good enough viewership but didn’t stand upright post the coronavirus lockdown and so did the makers decide to take it down.

Sanjivani

A drama based around doctors of Sanjivani hospital and their professional and personal lives reran for a year from 2019 to 2020. Leads of the first season Mohnish Behl and Gurdeep Kohli had been roped in the second season too along with Surbhi Chandna, Namit Khanna and Gaurav Chopra. But the second season didn’t seem to have caught the attention of the audience as much as the first one.

Brahmarakshas

Ekta Kapoor’s supernatural drama series Brahmrakshas also made a return to TV with its second season recently in November 2020. Starring Nikki Sharma and Pearl V Puri in the lead roles, the season 2 of the show is keeping the audience hooked to their screens with its intriguing twists and turns.
