Vivek Mushran: I feel the need to have a companion
Vivek Mushran, who began his career as the quintessential romantic hero in Bollywood hit '
Talking about his year-and-a-half-long absence from TV, Vivek says, “A TV show demands long-term commitment and hence, I was not seen on the small screen for a long time. I didn’t want to play a typical father and the character in 'Maayke...' excited me enough to take it up. After 'Parvarrish', it’s now that I am enjoying a character so much.”
The actor says that he fits the bill perfectly, as like him, even the character he plays is a bachelor. Ask Vivek why he has stayed single and he replies, “I didn’t think of marriage. It could have happened, but things didn’t materialise the way I had expected. But I have no regrets. I have been a happy-go-lucky guy for long, but I would love to have a companion at this stage. My friends, who are married, feel that I am the luckiest and happiest guy on the planet (laughs!). If not
The actor admits to being commitment-phobic. “I am commitment-phobic, and feel suffocated when in a situation like that. It gets scary for me,” he says.
Talking about the fact that modern relationships have become fragile, he says, “In today’s time, there are too many options. The world has shrunk with social media being the in thing and we have become intolerant. Women are more independent and they don’t take shit anymore. I am not a master in this space, but I feel dependency on each other has reduced and hence, relationships have become fragile than ever.”
And what’s his ideal woman like? “Someone who is strong and independent. I would like her to be dominating, but it shouldn’t hamper the relationship,” he signs off.

, I definitely feel the need to have a companion. The last time I was in a relationship was two years ago and since then, I have been mostly single. I would love to get married, but for my happiness and not because of societal norms.
