Vishaal Mohan: Actors should explore different sides of their personality
Actor Vishaal Mohan says preparation and observation are key parts of his process as he continues building his career in films.
Vishaal began his journey behind the camera, working as an assistant director on Guzaarish under Sanjay Leela Bhansali and later assisting on Aisha. He eventually moved in front of the camera and made his acting debut with Game 100 Crore Ka. Since then, he has taken on varied roles in projects like Yadav Ji Ki Love Story, Aashiqui Imtehaan Leti Hai, and Mehndi 2.
Speaking about today’s audience, Vishaal says viewers are far more aware than before. “Viewers are very smart these days. With better education and access to information, audiences understand filmmaking and can easily identify good actors, directors, and producers,” he says. “Ultimately, everything is in the hands of the audience. They have the power to give fame and also take it away.”
He also points to the impact of streaming platforms on modern entertainment. “With so many OTT platforms, content is everywhere. I enjoy watching different performances and learning something new every day.”
Vishaal reveals he is currently working on a comedy project with a first-time director. “I chose it because the director’s storytelling and observation are different. I believe actors should explore different sides of their personality.”
In his acting process, he says preparation is essential. “Before doing any scene, I practice a lot. After giving a take, I watch myself on the monitor and analyze if something can be improved so that I don’t go out of character.”
He adds, “When I started, I wasn’t sure if people would like my acting. Now that audiences appreciate my roles, the sense of responsibility has increased.”
