Vikas Kalantri on returning to acting: I’m working on myself, so I don’t look dated on screen

Actor Vikas Kalantri, who has been part of Bollywood film Nayee Padosan, says he is open to returning to acting after a long break. The actor was later seen in films like Pyaar Zindagi Hai, Dil Bechara Pyaar Ka Maara, Jigyaasa and Naqaab.

Vikas, who has been away from acting since 2012, says the break was unplanned. “It’s been quite a long time since I left acting, but I do plan to get back. I’m open to doing verticals or projects where I’m not required for a very long time, so I can also focus on my business,” he says. “I’m looking for the right opportunity. Something had come earlier, but I was traveling then. Hopefully, I’ll do something soon.”

Talking about the break, he explains, “It wasn’t planned at all. After Nayee Padosan, there were talks about a sequel. I ended up doing talent scouting and formed an event company. I enjoyed that process, and the break just happened.”

Vikas feels the industry has changed for the better. “Earlier, if you were doing films, you couldn’t do TV, and OTT didn’t exist. Short formats and verticals were not there at all,” he says. “Actors were stereotyped. Now the space is much more open.”

He adds that he is selective about his comeback. “I’m only interested in doing web shows for now, not television. I’m working on myself as well, so I don’t look dated on screen.”

Vikas is married to television actress Priyanka Chibber, known for shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The couple tied the knot in February 2012 and welcomed a son in July 2019.Bigg Boss 19 Winner
