After playing sister to Vijayendra Kumeria in Udann and Sharad Malhotra in Musakaan, Vandana Singh has now been roped in to play Shakti Arora’s sibling in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin. The actress says, “It’s a negative character of Shakti Arora’s sister. I do not have too much information about the storyline or my track. A new set of actors have been introduced to take the story ahead and I hope to forge a connection with the audience by giving our best.
Dil se dil judta hai tabhi show hit hota hai. Main toh bas yahi chahoongi ki audience hamaare pyaar mein ghum rahe.”
The actress, who has been part of several shows, including Ishq Ka Rang Safed and Phir Subah Hogi, is back on Hindi TV after three-and-a-half years. She says, “After Musakaan, I went back to Chandigarh during COVID. Back home, I did a Punjabi show in the lead role and a film in which I played a negative character. That’s where I got to try something different. It is easy to get typecast on Hindi television. If you play a sister once, you will be offered similar characters. There are a few casting directors, who will approach you with different characters, but maximum calls come for the same character. Aap behen bani thi and negative play kiya tha toh bas wohi kirdaar aapko offer hota hai. So, I thought if I can’t play anything else, at least paise toh kamaau.
She adds, “But the only way I can get that is by being visible. Prashant Joshi, the casting director of Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, has told me to keep working and be seen. He said, ‘Kaam karo kyunki agar dikhna band ho jaaogi toh koi faayda nahi hai’. I have realised that your luck has to favour you to achieve what you have set out for. I hope my luck favours and I get to play a positive character, which I am keen on portraying.”
