Denim Day is observed on April 27 to spread awareness against sexual harassment and rape. Urfi, who is known for styling her own clothes and bold fashion statements, spoke about Denim Day.
Urfi Javed said, "To be honest, I think it is kind of a bittersweet day because even if people came together to protest it is just that such a day shouldn't have come in the first place."
She was asked if a patriarchal mindset is still prevalent in today's time.
Reacting to this, Urfi said, "Yes, of course, our society judges a woman based on her clothes even today. My comment section is a living proof of the same. Even if I don't care about them and ignore them it cannot change the fact that it's there."
Furthermore, she added, "Also, people judge men and women differently when they wear clothes of their choice. I mean a guy never gets slut shamed for keeping his buttons open or wearing shorts"
Lastly, the actress shared how will she mark the importance of the day. Urfi shared, "I will be observing Denim Day by doing what I do every day- being myself, wearing what I want to wear, and not caring about anyone else's opinions. I would also like to take this opportunity and tell each and every girl that they don't ever care about somebody else's opinions and do whatever you want to do. That's the only way we can bring in a change."
