On Tuesday, veteran actor Javed Khan Amrohi passed away in Mumbai. According to reports, the actor was having breathing difficulties. The actor was best known for his work in the entertainment industry.
PTI reported that the actor died on Tuesday due to lung failure at a hospital here, according to his filmmaker Ramesh Talwar. He was in his early 70s.
The veteran actor was suffering from a breathing ailment and was bedridden for the past one year. He was undergoing treatment at Surya Nursing Home in suburban Mumbai, Talwar told PTI.
"He passed away at the hospital around 1 pm as both his lungs failed," he added.
Actor Akhilendra Mishra, Amrohi's frequent collaborator from his theatre days and co-star of "Lagaan", said he was ailing for a long time.
"He was my senior in theatre. He was an active member of IPTA (Indian People's Theatre Association) Mumbai since the 1970s," Mishra told PTI.
The actor's last rites will be performed at the Oshiwara Kabristan at 7.30 pm, he added.
His co-star from Lagaan, Akhilendra Mishra, paid tribute on Facebook, writing, "Heartfelt condolences to Javed Khan Sahab. Great performer, senior artist, and IPTA (Indian People's Theatre Association) member."
Javed Khan appeared in famous TV shows from the 80s and 90s such as Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984), Nukkad (1986), Mirza Ghalib (1988), Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai (1995), Ghar Jamai (1997), Powder, Kirdaar, Vishnu Puran and even the iconic show Shaktimaan.
The actor also made a mark on the silver screen, he was best known for his roles in Lagaan, Andaz Apna Apna, Hum Hai Raahi Pyaar Ke, Chak De India! and so on. The veteran actor will surely be missed by everyone in the fraternity for his great work in both Television and Cinema.
