TV industry makes you get typecast: Vishal Malhotra

Actor Vishal Malhotra, who is one of the best hosts on television, was recently in Vadodara for the auditions of the Zee TV show India’s Best Cine Stars Ki Khoj.
Talking about his journey on television, Vishal says, “I have been doing TV for almost 19 years and what I don’t like about the TV industry is that you get typecast a lot! I have been offered the same ‘happy go lucky’ kind of characters again and again and I am tired of playing the same kind of roles.

There are roles that I have loved, like playing Dr. Ranganath in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, which required a restrained performance to make it look convincing. It has been a great journey, but I want to play something different now. It’s not about playing a positive or negative character, but I am looking for characters with multiple shades. I am also working on getting a lean look.”
Vishal, who has also been a part of films like Ishq Vishk, Kaal, Ek Vivaah…Aisa Bhi and Jannat, adds, “India’s Best Cine Stars Ki Khoj is as good a platform as star kids get for their films! Today, with such intense competition, things are tougher for budding actors and this show will help them in a big way.”
