TV gives you financial stability: Vikram Singh
Actor Vikram Singh returns to television after a 3-4 year hiatus, seeking to work on his craft and explore new roles. He previously took a break to focus on personal life, including his marriage and the birth of his daughter.
Vikram Singh, who is currently seen in Do Duniya Ek Dil, has steadily built a career across mediums, with films like Kesari and Mardaani 2, and web shows such as Baarish and Rudra. Having worked across formats, he had consciously taken a break from television for a few years before recently returning to the medium.Talking about what brought him back, he says, “As an actor, I was exhausted. I was not learning anything new. So I willingly took that break of 3–4 years to work on my craft. During that time, I did films and series, but in December, I felt that now is the time I want to work more. Then this opportunity came with a good story and a strong, layered character, so I thought I could do this.”Television offers a certain kind of financial stability that other mediums may not always guarantee, he says. “Financially, TV gives you stability. You can plan your next few years if you are part of a long-running show. That also gives you the freedom to decide later if you want to take a break,” he points out.One of the biggest challenges of television is the time commitment it demands. “If a show runs long, you can’t take up other projects. That’s also why I stepped away for a bit — to grow and explore as an actor,” he shares. Balancing family with workThe break, however, was not just about work—it was also personal.
“In 2021, I got married, and we wanted to travel for a few months. Then in 2022, my daughter Sia was born. I wanted to spend time with her and build that bond. So I didn’t want to work continuously. I was taking up shorter projects and focusing on my craft,” he says. Now, as he returns to a daily show format, the actor feels more prepared to balance both worlds. “Now I feel this is the time when I can give that kind of time to television again. I can do this project and then decide what I want to do next,” he adds.
