On National Pet Day today, celebs reveal facts about their pets

On the occasion of National Pet Day we reached out to TV celebs and asked them about the most unusual habits of their pets. Here's what they had to say…

2/8

Erica Fernandes: He barks and calls us when he wants to be petted

The Kasautii Zindagii Kay actor shares, “Every night my pet will bark and ask one of us to come and put him to sleep and only then we can go to sleep. He has to be fed every meal by hand and he also barks and calls us to him whenever he wants to be petted. The most amusing thing is as soon as we reach home he will take our shoes and run away.”

Sourabh Raaj Jain: My dog gets jealous of my kids

The Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev actor shares, “Unlike other pets and children, when the two parties treat each other equally, here if I give extra attention to my kids, my dog gets jealous. So then we have to include him too so that he feels secure. Now my kids too understand that my dog needs more attention than them.”

4/8

Sumeet Raghavan: My cats and my dog stay together happily under one roof

The Wagle Ki Duniya actor shares, “I have three pets at home, 2 cats and 1 dog and all of them are strays. My elder one Rick, whenever he has to relieve himself he goes and sits near the door and waits for one of us to open the door for him. We open the door, he goes down and does his business, plays with other cats and the moment we whistle, he comes back home. On the other hand, my other cat Mishti is a typical house cat. We don’t let her out anywhere but her areas are marked in the house. I think the cats and our dog stay together without any fights. I would say that itself is very unusual. Usually Cats and dogs don’t get along or tend to fight but not in this house. Shifu, Rick and Mishti get along with each other."

5/8

Rishina Kandhari: My cat is a dog!

The Aye Mere Humsafar actress shares, “My cat Sophia is not a cat I feel she is a dog. Unlike other cats who just want to sleep and not indulge in petting or cuddling and interacting, she does things which are not in a cat’s basic nature. And she knows when we are coming home, just like dogs sense their owners' coming. So every time we are in the lift, we find her standing at the door wagging her tail. As soon as we enter, she jumps around and wants to get patted.”

6/8

Sanjay Gagnani: My dogs can lick my face for hours

The Kundali Bhagya actor shares, “I have two dogs and they are Disney and Flirty. Flirty reacts to the unique ringtone that Poonam (his partner) has set on her phone whenever I call her. Then she always accompanies us on the dining table whenever we consume a meal. Additionally, she sleeps/shares the same pillow as mine and wakes up along with me every morning. On the other hand I feel Disney has an inclination towards women, is always welcoming towards women including stranger women. They both react to the word ‘Nahyi Nahyi’ (bathing-bathing) as they hate bathing and run away, hide under the dining table whenever they hear the word.”

7/8

Raghav Tiwari: My dogs take care of my sinus problem

The Hamariwali Good News actor shares, “I have two pets in my house, one is an American Pit Bull Terrier and the other one is a stray. I’ve given quirky names to both of them, the stray's name is Tikly and the Pit bull’s is Thor (laughs). I have some fond memories with both my kids, and I’ve always believed that dogs are more humane than human beings. I tend to have trouble breathing at times since I have sinus. Whenever I’m sick, both my dogs push open the door, get on my bed and do not leave my side till I get better. No matter how hungry they are, they will just not let me be alone. Especially Tikly is the first one to make sure if I am okay whenever I get hurt. She pounces on me and starts licking the wound and makes sure I feel fine. Thor is no less, he is super fun to be around, but when it comes to me, he is always very concerned.”

8/8

Sidharrth Sipani: My pet does Namaste

The Zindagi Ki Mehak actor shares, “I have three pet dogs Bullet, Bebo and My Yash. They play the most important role in my daily life. It's been 9 years that they are with me. I live alone, so you can imagine how they have filled colours in my life. Bullu among them is the funniest. I say ‘Namaste karo’ and he joins his hands if I have a treat for him. His namaste amuses everyone. He also hides sometimes and it's fun.”
