TV actors who spoke about body shaming: From Ashnoor Kaur to Tejasswi Prakash

The entertainment industry revolves around being in front of the camera, but the work suddenly turned around to prioritizing glamor. Expected to fit in the boxes, many actors faced criticism for not being the ‘ideal’ figure. However, some of the actors courageously chose to call out the comments, setting an inspirational standard in the world. Let’s take a look at the TV actors who spoke about being body shamed.

2/5

Ashnoor Kaur

Ashnoor Kaur, the ‘Bigg Boss 19’ contestant, opened up about being body shamed in the house by her fellow mates. During a conversation with Salman Khan, the ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ actress shared that she has had body issues ever since she was a teenager. “From the very beginning, I have had a hormonal imbalance, and in stressful situations, my body bloats up,” she said, adding that she tried to starve herself as well. After claiming that she has a healthy lifestyle, she slammed Tanya Mittal for commenting on her body. “If you are coming to this platform, call yourself a spiritual influencer and say you take care of people, and then you go on body-shaming me behind my back, you are not saying this only to me, but to all the audience who have issues with their body. So shame on you, Tanya,” she said.

Rupali Ganguly

Rupali Ganguly, the ‘Anupamaa’ star, once shared that she was body shamed after giving birth to her son. Expressing that she gained 83 kgs, the actress recalled not looking in the mirror as well during a conversation with TellyTalkIndia. “24 se aapki waist jab 40 ki ho jaati hai ajeeb sa lagta hai (When your waist goes from 24 to 40 inches, it feels strange),” she said. In another interview with The Times of India, Ganguly expressed how she was age-shamed as well after starring in ‘Anupamaa.’ Not only did the people talk about her body, but she received comments about her wrinkles as well.

4/5

Rashami Desai

Rashami Desai, the ‘Dil Se Dil Tak’ actress, shared how people have been criticising her over everything she does. In an exclusive interview with us, Desai admitted that she had been trolled over her size, clothes, make-up, hair, and more. “I have a habit of fluctuating when it comes to weight. Sometimes I can gain or lose weight; they have a problem with that too,” she said. However, she clapped back at the ‘faceless people,’ stating that it’s her body and she has a right to whatever she feels right. “I have earned it,” she concluded.

5/5

Tejasswi Prakash

Tejasswi Prakash, the ‘Naagin’ actress, revealed that she was bodyshamed for having a chubby face despite having a thin body. “People would get confused and make comments like ‘football face.’ Even now, I have a chubby face, and I’m not sure I can change it,” she said in the conversation with Humans of Bombay. Moreover, she acknowledged that she doesn’t let the comments affect her, but she channels body positivity and prioritizes yoga.
