TV actor Swwapnil Joshi became God overnight after playing Lord Krishna; more facts about his connection with mythological shows

Playing Ram’s son Kush in Uttar Ramayan

Swwapnil Joshi started his acting career with Ramanand Sagar’s show Uttar Ramayan, where he played the role of young Kush. This show focussed on Lord Rama's coronation, and his children -- the twins Luv and Kush. After Ramayan, DD National is now showcasing Swwapnil starrer, Luv Kush's Uttar Ramayan.

His first role on TV

A follow-up series Luv-Kush based on the last chapter of Ramayana Uttar Kand, aired from 1988 to 1989. Swwapnil Joshi essayed Kush and Mayuresh Kshetramade played Luv, who were the sons of Lord Ram and Sita.

Was 9 when played Kush

Swwapnil shared, “This to me is the most profound character I played to date and it is my first character interestingly. I have very few memories as I was all of 9 then when I played that role but I am all set to remember those good old days of shooting.”

Working with Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia

He added more about getting a chance to share screen space with the veteran actors of Ramayan. He shared, “I remember I had a great time and everyone on the set be it Arun sir who played Shri Ram, Dipika Ji who played Sita Maiyaa and Sunil sir who played Lakshman ji took care of me and we all had a great time. It will be extremely nostalgic. We worked as a family back then. Can't wait to relive and see that on the screen."

Playing God on-screen

In 1993, he was offered the role of young Krishna in another Ramanand Sagar's show named Krishna. His role was much applauded and people would address him as Lord Krishna in real life as well. People thought he was Krishna and fans would visit the sets to meet him and touch his feet.

Swwapnil turned into an overnight star

Shri Krishna’s role turned Swwapnil Joshi into an overnight star. He earned instant fame playing this mythological character. However, the actor then took a break from acting and made a comeback as a youth actor with several Hindi shows.

A popular name in Hindi and Marathi entertainment industry

Swwapnil has done shows like Hudd Kar Di, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Hare Kkaanch Ki Choodiyaan to name a few. He is currently hosting Marathi TV shows and also films.

Kush was not the youngest son of Lord Rama he was the eldest, Luv was the youngest son....this is a common misconception among people..for ease of the tongue we all say "Luv-Kush" but in actual Kush was the eldest son and that's why he became King after Lord Rama....
