On the occasion of Republic Day today,

Molkki

actor

Tushar Kawale

walks down memory lane recounting the time when he used to celebrate this day in school with a lot of enthusiasm.

He shares, "I miss the time when we were kids. It was a different feeling altogether. We all used to look forward to it during our school days. I feel that the throwback

childhood memories

of Republic Day will always be special for me. After growing up, I haven't celebrated it in the same way."

Talking about his childhood and what they did on Republic Day, he says, "A day or two before January 26th, schools used to be fully decorated in tri-colour. Everyone would prepare well for the assembly. I remember we even used to choreograph performances on patriotic songs. No matter how cold it would be in the mornings, it was mandatory for us to attend school and be a part of the cultural programmes. We used to get a small snack box and chocolate too, and that treat would feel like a real reward."

Holding the Indian flag is a great feeling and Tushar loved hoisting the flag. He says, "That feeling is something else. Wearing a tricolour badge or even rubber bands on our wrists was a tradition. When we used to hoist the flag, I used to get goosebumps and feel proud to be an Indian." This is a day to remember our heroes, he says. "On this Republic Day, we should remember the heroes who sacrificed their lives to free our country. And we all should work towards becoming more responsible citizens and following our national duties," he says.
