Titiksha Shrivastava: I have a theatre background so playing a character of any age doesn't matter to me
Actress Titiksha Shrivastava will soon be seen in the upcoming show Jagriti-Ek Nayi Subah alongside actors Aarya Babbar and Asmi Deo. She will play mother to Jagriti (played by Asmi Deo). Talking about her role, Titiksha says, "My role is very interesting. My character Geeta is a righteous girl who becomes a judicial magistrate. I believe in social causes and so does my character, so I connect with this role."
Titiksha who hails from Bhopal used to be a theatre artiste after which she pursued law. When asked what got her into acting on TV, she says, "I was always interested in acting and so would do theatre. But my mother believed in having a degree and that's how I became a lawyer. In 2018, I came to Mumbai for a job as a lawyer and within a year I realised that acting is something that I truly enjoy. I started giving auditions and bagged web shows like Adrishyam- The Real Life Heroes and IC 814- The Kandahar Hijack after which I got my first daily soap on TV Jagriti which I am looking forward to. That's how I became an actor from a lawyer."
She adds, "The artiste is me is more dominant and that's how I got into acting."
Does playing a mother's role bother her? Also, is she worried about getting stereotyped? Titiksha replies, "As an actor, one has to be clear about what one is chasing... to be an artist or a star. An artiste can play any role at any age. That's what we have been taught in theatre. My learning has been completely from theatre, so playing a character of any age doesn't matter to me. My focus is if I can connect with my character and here I really connected with Gita's role. There is nothing wrong in playing a mother's role, there are people who marry at a young age and become mothers."
