Before he became a household name in the film business, Shah Rukh Khan appeared in a number of television shows. When he was just starting out in his career, the actor who became a household name after appearing in Fauji signed up for anchoring assignments. A video from that era, in which Shah Rukh Khan can be seen co-hosting a New Year's Eve show on Doordarshan, has gone viral.
In the now-viral video, Shah Rukh Khan introduces artist Kumar Sanu (who was popular in the 1990s) on stage by stating, "Kumar Sanu, wohi hai jo Kishore Kumar ke andaaz main gaatey hain?"
Shah Rukh also appeared in numerous TV shows, making him extremely popular amongst viewers. His TV debut was Fauji and this led to appearances in Aziz Mirza's Circus (1989-1990) and Mani Kaul's miniseries Idiot (1992). SRK also appeared in the television serials Umeed (1989) and Wagle Ki Duniya (1988-90), as well as the English-language film In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones (1989). His appearances in these serials prompted critics to compare his appearance and acting style to that of film actor Dilip Kumar, but SRK was not interested in film acting at the time, believing he was not good enough.
On the other hand, Kumar Sanu is currently on the judges panel of Indian Idol 14. On being a part of the reality show, he said, "Indian Idol stands tall as one of the most prestigious singing reality shows that the country has to offer, giving aspiring singers a platform to showcase their skill and establish a distinct identity for themselves in the realm of singing.
