The show must go on: Adhvik Mahajan on Teri Meri Ikk Jindri shoot getting relocated to Rajasthan
Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, shooting of most TV shows has been relocated from Mumbai to other states. The cast of the daily soap Teri Meri Ikk Jindrirecently reached Rajasthan to shoot at a heritage property in Mandawa in Jhunjhunu.
Talking about the experience, Adhvik Mahajan, who is playing Jogi in the show, shares, “To keep the show running, we (entertainment industry professionals) have a huge responsibility on our shoulders. When people have to stay at home and have nothing much to do in terms of recreational activities, TV is a big source of entertainment and it keeps them away from worries. This was the only option available to run the show.”
Adhvik assures that all the safety guidelines are being followed during the shoot. “We are taking all the precautions and following the government guidelines, which means shooting with very few people in a bio-bubble created for everyone’s safety. We are staying inside the hotel and shooting here only with those who are required on the sets, maintaining personal hygiene as well as social distancing,” he shares.
Was it a sensible decision to shift the shoot location during the second wave? Says Adhvik, “TV is the daily bread and butter for thousands of people, including daily wagers. So, it’s great that with their help, we are able to run the show and entertain our audiences. We need to be considerate about these people, who have families to take care of and TV is the only source of livelihood for them. Majority of the workers are daily wagers and one cannot deny that halting shoots creates a lot of struggle for them.”
The show is based in Amritsar in Punjab. Will the relocation affect its popularity in any manner? “I don’t think so. The creative team has tried their best to create the same look. Moreover, the audience connects with the characters, emotions and storyline. The city or location hardly matters when the rest of the things fall into place,” he feels.
