The Great Indian Kapil Show’s Kiku Sharda reveals how his father let him pursue acting; says ‘When he saw people recognizing me after Hatim…’

Kiku Sharda, known for his comic brilliance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, recently shared a heartfelt anecdote about his father’s support for his acting career. During a visit to Archana Puran Singh’s house with his wife Priyanka, Kiku recalled how his father truly acknowledged his passion when people recognized him after Hatim. He expressed gratitude for his family's encouragement, which fueled his journey in the entertainment industry.

“I have grown up knowing fan can only be switched on and off. If it is hot, switch it on, if it is cold switch if off. Priyanka keeps switching between fan speed level,” shared Kiku. Priyanka shares Kiku’s most annoying habit is biting nails.

“I like Bachha Yadav. It is good,” Priyanka said. Kiku says a romantic dialogue in Bachha Yadav style. Kiku mentions that he gets angry a lot. He said, “I react very quickly. Everyone tells me to think before saying but I just react.” They also share that they never apologise to each other.

I need help to drape a saree. I cannot drape it. My sarees are beautiful but Priyanka drapes them beautifully.

I am a very enthusiastic actor since my school and college days. When I got a TV show, I told my dad. My first TV show was Hatim, where I played Hobo. I worked very well.

The show was shot in Baroda. There was a filmcity of Ramanand Sagar. It was there production house. For 15-20 days I had to stay in Baroda.

My dad would say that I would have to sit in the office for the rest of the days. I come from a Marwari family so no matter what I do, office toh aana hi hai. In between, I went to a mall with my dad and people started recognizing me. My dad was happy thinking, kitna bhi paisa bana lo, log aise jante toh nahi hai. Then he let me pursue acting full-fledged.

When we kind of settled down post marriage, I got my passport out and was showing her which all countries I have been to. She took out a bundle of 5-6 passports and said and the rest of them are at home. I was showing off with one passport. So, where she stayed, English education was not good. She was staying in Johor Bahru, border Malaysia. So she had to go to Singapore everyday for school, to and fro.
