MNS warns Kapil Sharma: stop calling Mumbai 'Bombay' on his show
In a conversation, Teja opened up about one of his infamous wardrobe malfunctions during an event for his movie Hanu-Man. Kapil brought up the challenges of shooting for period films. He said, “Jab hum period movies karte hai Teja, bohot saari aisi cheezein hoti hain jo hum normal life mein nahi karte. Like, you, wearing costumes, hathiyaar pakde huye apne. Badi baar aisa darr bhi hota hai ki yaar aap ghodi pe ja rahe ho, ghodi se utarte waqt pair phas gaya, ya dhoti khulne ka darr hota hai.” (When we do period movies, Teja, we end up doing a lot of things we don’t normally do in real life. For example, wearing costumes, holding heavy weapons.
Many times, there’s also fear—like if you’re riding a horse, your leg might get stuck while getting off, or the dhoti might come loose.)
Kapil then asked Teja if he had ever experienced something like that while filming. Teja admitted that though it hadn’t happened on set, he did face a wardrobe issue during an event. “Film mein nahi lekin events pe hua hai” (Not during films, but it has happened at events), he said.
He then narrated the incident, saying, “Mera Hanu-Man ka pre-release event tha aur mujhe ek kurta diya. Maine bohot stress mein dekha bhi nahi kya pehen raha hoon aur pehen ke chala gaya. Woh kurta transparent nikla. Thik hai woh transparent tha, lekin meri pants thodi niche thi. Toh poora speech jab main de raha tha (he stood up and enacted his speech), baahar aane ke baad pictures mein dekha ki thoda andar se upar aake transparent tha. Woh hua hai mere saath.” (At the pre-release event of Hanu-Man, I was given a kurta. I was so stressed that I didn’t even check properly what I was wearing and just went on stage. The kurta turned out to be transparent. That was still fine, but my pants were a little low. So, when I was giving my entire speech, later when I came out and saw the pictures, I realised it looked transparent from inside.)
The conversation then took another funny turn when Kapil asked Teja what he considered the riskiest stunt of his career. Teja replied, “Romance.” Kapil couldn’t hold back his laughter and agreed, joking that romance scenes are indeed the toughest to perform on screen.
