The Great Indian Kapil Show 4: David Dhawan defends Govinda for arriving late on set; says, “Aaj kaun sa actor late nahi aata?” calls him an unbelievable actor
The Great Indian Kapil Show season 4 comes to an end with an entertaining grand finale episode. The show welcomed father-son duo of David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan for the final episode and it was a laugh riot. The veteran director spoke about his memorable films, working with actor like Govinda, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan.
During the episode, David Dhawan spoke about his association with Govinda and working with him in 17 blockbuster films. He also defended Govinda for arriving late on sets and praised his acting talent.
While talking about his father, Varun Dhawan revealed how David Dhawan always recalls the memories of working with Govinda, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor. The legendary director shares that he has done 17 films with Govinda. He said, "Seventeen films I've done with him and I believe Govinda is one of the best actors, I have worked with, outstanding."
Varun says, "Ab joh bhi scene likha jaata hai unko yaad aati hai Chi Chi bhaiya ki (Govinda), If Chi Chi were here, how would he do it? So I tell him but I have to perform for my audience, who are little kids. So I have a very tall order to live upto. He always tells me, Salman would do it this way, Chi Chi aise karta, Anil aise karta... But then I have to figure, how would I perform."
Varun also revealed that his father would announce on the mic, “Thanda actor hai, Thanda actor hai,” whenever any actor gave a poor performance. David Dhawan shared, "You see most of the times, the hero forgets his lines. But the character actors are the best like Paresh Rawal, Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher."
He went on to praise Govinda and defend him over being non-punctual. He said, "Here I want to tell you, log bolte hain na late aata hai sets par, aaj kaun nahi late aata hai, late aana chodi... Woh aata hai, apna kaam khatam kar ke jaata hai."
David Dhawan went on to narrate an incident from "Partner." He shared, "And you will not believe it." He would show up and ask for his scene. It would be a four page scene. He would go through it thoroughly while I was setting up the shot. He said, "Don't set it up yet." "Do one thing, Here's the scene. Watch me perform. I'll do it in one take." David added, "This was in Partner. He did all kinds of acrobatics in that scene; you can't imagine. Then he told me edit the scene however I wanted. Unbelievable. Govinda is incredible."
The star cast of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Sunil Grover, paid tribute to David Dhawan by performing a parody of a scene from his film, Coolie No. 1.

Stop defending latecomers and start respecting the actors who actually show up on time. It’s unfair to expect disciplined professionals to wait around for hours without compensation just because a lead is running late. Everyone is asking for 8-hour shifts, but how can that work if the 'stars' don't lead by example? If you want better working conditions, start by respecting everyone else’s time. Punctuality isn't a suggestion—it's a requirement.Read allPost comment
