Anita says, “Times have changed and actresses over 40 are getting interesting roles to play on the small screen rather than being typecast as a bahu, or hero ki maa or heroine ki bua. Actresses over a certain age have the experience and maturity to handle complicated roles with ease, so that’s a great plus point. Also, the

audience

wants to see even character actors who are powerful and engaging to keep them hooked for a longer time.”

Quiz her about what she thinks are the factors responsible for these changes, she shares, “The audience who are watching these shows have evolved and want to watch relatable shows that strike the right chord with them. They want to see women characters that are powerful, mature, and confident even if they are playing a bahu, maa, or even character actor on the small screen. I think also the showmakers are slowly gearing up to take this risk of showing such amazing female characters on screen. There’s too much competition around and we have to give our audience that can keep them hooked.”
