The 50: Digvijay Rathee believes reality TV can transform lives: says 'It pushed me to confront myself'

When the topic of reality television changing lives comes up, Digvijay doesn’t romanticise the format. For him, the cameras don’t create a new personality; they strip away the layers people usually hide behind.
“Reality TV doesn’t change you, it exposes you. It forces you to face your triggers, your strengths, and even your responsibilities,” he shared.
According to him, reality television can have a profound effect but only if contestants allow themselves to grow rather than just survive. He asserts that when one stops acting for the camera and begins to be honest with oneself, growth occurs.
That sense of honesty also defines the values Digvijay refuses to bend, regardless of how high the stakes get. When asked what he will never compromise on, his answer comes without hesitation. “My self-respect, honesty, and loyalty towards my people and principles come first. These are non-negotiable for me,” he said.
Digvijay constantly acts in accordance with his words, whether it's through his handling of conflict or his preference for moderation over reaction. As the show goes on, viewers are reminded that sometimes strength doesn't have to be loud to be powerful by this grounded, unvarnished approach.
