In pursuit of diverse roles, Anshul Pandey, who became a household name as Naman Agrawal in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, took a hiatus from Hindi television around three years ago to explore opportunities in the digital space. Last seen in the family drama Ek Bhram - Sarvagun Sampanna, Anshul shares, “OTT has opened the floodgates of amazing opportunities for actors, leading me to make a conscious decision to step away from television and explore the space. It was about following my heart and dedicating time to exploring web content. I was also busy travelling and exploring the travel content space.”

He elaborates, “Television began feeling somewhat monotonous and tedious. Moreover, I started losing the excitement of being on TV sets. However, if an exciting and unconventional project comes my way, I am open to diving back into television.”

For now, he has decided to invest more time in exploring the web. After featuring in three seasons of Hello Mini, Anshul is set to feature in a new series titled Flash. Describing the upcoming show, he shares, “It’s a thriller and the story is intertwined with my character’s past. What adds to my excitement is that I get to portray a negative character. The primary reason for accepting this role was the opportunity to explore a new dimension.”

Anshul takes us by surprise as he mentions his yearning to play a negative character, a shade that had eluded him on television. The actor, who was also seen in the first season of Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, reflects, “I am not sure why I haven’t been offered negative roles. Probably, my screen image or appearance doesn’t align with the expectations of those in the television industry. I have come to realise that playing a negative character is more fun and creatively satisfying.”
