Tanya Abrol: No plans to start a family soon

Chak De! India actress Tanya Abrol recently made an entry on the TV show Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon, where she plays a collector who is pregnant. This sparked rumours that the actress, who got married in February this year, might be expecting in real life. However, Tanya clarifies that she has no immediate plans for motherhood.
She says, “My husband Ashish and I spoke about parenthood before marriage. We don’t have any such plans right now. At the moment, we are focusing on our work because there was a brief pause in my career post-marriage. I want to cover that, and Ashish is also busy with his professional commitments. Also, we are passionate about travelling and realise that it could be challenging to travel with a child.”

Tanya adds, “I am aware that my biological clock is ticking, and we are not getting any younger. Honestly, we are going with the flow. It is not that we don’t want kids at all. We are open to the idea of adoption, too, in the future. Bachhe toh sab ke hi saanjhe hote hain.”




For now, she is enjoying playing Amanpreet Chaddha in Kavya. A strong character that! However, does she not yearn to break away from the tough image associated with her onscreen persona, especially after Chak De! India? “Thoda woh strong personality wala part aa hi jaata hai and I won’t mince my words that it happens. It has stayed in people’s minds. It’s easier for them to accept in such roles,” she replies, adding, “People don’t envision me in certain characters. They always look at me as somewhat tomboyish. What they might not know is that I am as typical as any other girl. I miss playing simple characters and exploring other shades, but I respect the kind of work coming my way.”
