Arpita Mukherjee (TOI Photo) More picsArpita Mukherjee is a product of not one, but two musical talent shows on TV, but she’s refreshingly matter-of-fact about their importance.
“The two shows were very different from each other,” says the pretty Delhiite. “And what I learnt from them was that you cannot take the help of such shows to establish yourself as a singer.
You have to move on and take it forward on the basis of your merit as a singer. A talent hunt is only the beginning. It is not a sure-shot way to fame.”
Arpita says she was equally circumspect while choosing to become a singer also.
“I was fond of music even as a child, since my family is also into music. So when I decided to take it up as a career, my parents were not surprised. In fact, they were very supportive. But I was clear that I would complete my graduation and then take up music.” She completed her Eco (Hons) from DU and moved to Mumbai. Does she miss Delhi? “Not at all,” she smiles. “I don’t miss it because I am back every second month or so, so it is fine.”
